happy mooncake fest!

went to celebrate at a cyn's hse, and... haha, before i proceed with the pixes, sheela (non-chinese) asked us, "anyone here knows exactly how this fest came about? the history?" haha! that Q certainly had all of us MUTED! hahahahaha! i DONT even remember wads the cute story behind this! haha... u see, every celebration normally has its own 'kisah dongeng' to 'explain' its existance. but this one, i RILI cudnt rmber! haha.. so while hanging the lanterns, we tok abt it - 2 baseless stories we cud think of:

(1) neh, the mooncake was used to send out messages during wad wad war time? or sumting lidat? the ppl stuffed some papers with messages into the paste and was molded into sumting like a mooncake? (but why do they call it MOON cake? again, we were muted. cudnt link the msg-thingie & the moon! hahahaha)

(2) the story of the moon goddess and the duno-wad-guy... its a guy ok. something like a forbidden love thingie? goddess got cursed? aihh... duno lah. hahaha... so we ended up changing topic! LOL...

(stil dare to call urself chinese! tsk tsk tsk...) hehe...

anyway, had a fun time. all the lanterns were from ME (except for the 5 from the hseowner!) haha... i mean, i brot them all from home. we, as in my siblings and i, have one boxful of em (plus minus 100? duno...nvr counted), and some were legendary. hahaha... REALLY! esp those katun ones, each of em belongs to different owner, some mine, some porkey's, some lil bro's. hehe.. actually, the katun ones, i tink only one belongs to me! hahaha... but stil, tat is the most precious one! haha...

hung arnd 45 lanterns nia nia, due to the 'Attack of the Lazyworms' - malas having to keep changing the candles! hahaha... ended up with a lil more than half left in the box!

the traditional types - some with ribbons, some plain. i love the plain yellow ones the most! haha...

the katun types - (1) moonie, (2) bee, (3)tiger (?), (4) snoopy, (5) the oh-so cacat hello kitty, and (6) the overly made-up sun! hehe... like i said, only ONE out of these 6 katuns belong to me - the moonie. hehe... but i love bee alot alot. very the cute! (yesh, its porkey's) and i hate the last two the most. hello kitty, ermmm... nvr liked it! and the sun! my gudiness... as if the make up is too heavy lidat! gelik mati me! haha...

tadaa... close up, my moonie - gues wad? it has been with me for MORE THAN HALF OF MY LIFE, if im not mistaken! that is why i call it my 'pride n joy'! hahaha... LOL. and the candle that it uses - the huge white ones ler.

oh yea, at one point, a fren ALMOST tripped over and ALMOST fell, and he TER-knock on the bee. haha... gues wad? we all saw that he ALMOST trip, and we all saw that he TER-knock the bee, but instead of being kanceung about his safety, i held my breath and exclaimed, "BEE!" LOL. another said anxiously, "u dun burnt tiau the lantern!!"... and only after that, he said, "yen lai the lantern is more precious than me!" LOL! hahahaha... no mar, he din fall mar. tats y. we arent that kejam la. haha... (and besides, i know if the bee is to get burnt, porkey's gona be soooooooooooooo loso-ish!) hehe... =P
