no offence!!

31 March 2007, Saturday evng
In a way, it is good that they had this prophet muhd! then, that is how I can have my hols today! LOL… hahaha… JK! JK! no offence peeps! I WAS JUST KIDDING!
Well, as we are all aware of, lately the Chinese have been busying themselves with the ‘Ching Ming’ festival. Wad you call this fest in English, I have no idea at all. hahaha… even the hitz.fm announcer also mentioned ‘ching ming’. And, is it a “festival” or not, I also have no idea. Whatever lar… doesn’t matter. haha… btw, this is especially a very kinda major ‘festival’ for the Buddhist (?) or those who worship the idols etc. NOT FOR MY FAMILY, AS IN, MY PARENTS AND US SIBLINGS – WE DON’T PRAY TO THOSE. CHRISTIANS, remember? haha… anyway, this is when the children or family members of the deceased go to the graveyards (?) to (based on MY extended family’s history, and before we were Christians), went there to:
1. clean the yards (once in a year! hahaha…)
2. bring offerings, as in those foods, joss sticks, paper money, fruits, etc etc.
3. some people even ‘ask’ to strike 4D numbers, etc when they “pray” (?) (if this never happened in your family, good for u. but it happened in mine! hahaha… SO used to it already since small, watching those relatives ‘asking’ for numbers! tsk tsk tsk. so sincere, huh? hahaha… again, I’ll have to say, NO OFFENCE!)
4. burn all those paper stuffs, as in, paper money, paper wadever u can see in the market nowadays, etc etc and ‘throw’ those colorful thin paper stripes on the grave, etc
5. oh! one big rule in my family last time when we went there was, even though u went as one big family, with all your uncles, aunties, etc etc… YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO CALL EACH OTHER BY NAMES! haha… funny huh? of cos, all these rounds back to, ta daaa… ‘pantang’, a.k.a. superstitions. eg, if u usually call someone ermm… ‘Aunt Shirley’, when u were there, u have to minus off the name. so, if those kids esp, they forgot, or got sooo used to calling the ‘aunt’ + ‘name’, hah! sure got bombed! hahaha… I dun exactly know wad the pantang is actually.
6. duno wad else, canot recall. but I think more or less all these lar…
but today, like the past few years, my own family, we went there with a bouquet of flowers, and then, ta daaa… we were home! hahaa… and my lil bro, just now, when we were there, he suggested one thing to me. u know how messy and unorganized a tanah perkuburan is, rite? especially the older ones. so, as usual, we gota SEARCH for the rite graves! haha… and I tell u, all the graves looked more or less the same! haha… we spent quite some time looking for the right ones! haha… and when we finally found that two, my bro said, “ling, u can go and design one SIGNBOARD liau, and put it here. so that we don’t have to soooo susahly search next time!” LOL! crazy! hahaha… laf dead me there js nw! my gudiness! imagine a signboard written, “we are here!” hahaha… just imagine when your other relatives, they go there separately, and saw the signboards! hahaha! LOL! JUST KIDDING! JUST KIDDING! hahahahaha… don’t take me too seriously here, cos when u dun take me too seriously, then u wont get offended reading this post. and I dun have to keep saying, “no offence, people!” haha…'
ok. ok. enuf about that. or else, people will say that I am terribly rude for making fun of this festival! haha…
anyway, other topic. haha…
when u realized u were staring at someone kinda frequently, u will feel ‘paiseh’ or awkward, rite? but wad if, EVERYTIME u found yourself staring at that person, haha… that person was actually staring at you also? hahaha! so, does that mean that you shudnt feel ‘paiseh’? cos if that person does not stare at you, that means, he/she wont know that u were staring, and ONLY WHEN he was staring at you THAT frequently also, then he will know that you were staring at him. AM I RIGHT, OR AM I RIGHT? hahahaha… LOL! so, I guess I AM right, right?? haha… meaning, no such awkwardness if both party are doing the same thing, rite? hahahaha! LOL. ok. I gota stop lol-ing now! hahaha… btw, such dramatic thing, did not happen to me, ok. haha! was watching a movie js nw, and the lead actor and actress were arguing over who was staring at who, and it reminded me of when I was in johor, this happened to my two frens oso. hahaha… so cute! balik balik, ok lar… u two were staring at each other lar… haiyo! LOL… the standard reply was, “if u din stare at me, how did u know I was staring at u?!” hahaha… errrr, true? hahahah!
yay! I shall be off to kl next thurs night. this coming Thursday, I mean. yay! holiday! yay!
and then, there’s one more thing that I encountered lately. lately as in, since late last year til now. haha… insurance. we are planning to get one for ourselves – a few of my frens and i. met a few agents, of the same two companies, and they had us realized that, insurance policies, they can be more or less the same. but when it comes to the agent, I tell u, u gota be REALLY good esp when communicating, then only can u strike a deal. previously, we were ok with the policy, but were actually, ‘agent-searching’! hahaha… how ridiculous is that! but its true! haha. the agent cudnt convince us to let her be our agent. the policy is ok, but not the agent. hehe…
o ya, to those who had been to kuching but not recently, kuching will be a lil different now from what you’ve seen one or two years prior. haha… the few-cabang-punya-flyovers at bdc (?) roundabout is about to be completed and ready for use! hehe… but I myself still haven’t clarify which leads to where yet! hahaha… as usual.

("good" things shud be shared together, rite? hahaaha) ... and she replied: "when u tell me u have a bf, then i will tell u when im planning to get married!" LOL! oki, deal. i have no prob with that... hahaha. haihh, i miss her alot alot. haha... oh, she's the one with the pet dog POISONED! by neighbours, y? cos her doggie and a bunch of doggies (if im not mistaken) barked in the middle of the nite, and disturbs the neighbour! my gudiness! they are only dogs! do u have to be sooo mean to dogs?? animals? tsk tsk tsk... poor thing. and the doggie is oso something like mao mao - a 'small' dog. aiyerrr.. terible!

(but i attended all the other meetings!) but somehow, was invited by this leader on one sat nite, and i rili duno how to say no to her. so there i was, attending such meeting for the 1st time! aiyo, soooo awkward! the feeling was exactly like when u were to attend school for the 1st time! hahaha! everything was conducted in chinese, but she (MY group leader) knows im handicapped in mandarin, so there were a few translations sometimes. haha.... and, hmmm... i was js telling a fren that i dun attend this kinda meetings when we met around a week ago! who knows, less than a week later, there i was... haha. and this is why lor, i gotta change my badminton day from thurs to wed (yesterday).

oh yea, i drive to work every morning, rite? and, walao... yesterday, when i reached batu lintang small traffic junction cum sm teknik cum fire station area...i was soooooooooo IMPRESSED by wad i saw! for those of u who know wich road im toking about, then u shud know that it is a very straight road, and the green lite period for the strait lane is usually very long. and there i was, driving towards the traffic (from saberkas direction), and from far, i can already see the mbks OR dbku cleaning lady sweeping the road, and i was thinking, "hmm... i guess she will move away from the middle of the road wen this batch of cars reaching... cos IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE AT HER POSITION THEN! u know where were she standing?? IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TWO-LANED ROAD! RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE! AND WAS SWEEPING AWAY WITHOUT MUCH CAUTION! my gudness! i mean, it was rili dangerous ler... walao! tat is why u see... haha. some ppl say, kuching is almost as clean as singapore, except tat of cos, in singapore, there are strict laws and tis n tat... but here in my hometown? i guess the dbku/mbks ppl are just rili very responsible towards their job! this morning, i saw one too... at the traffic leading to jalan mendu. but this guy wasnt as "khua" as the lady the day b4. at lis, this guy, he was standing and sweeping the road sides... not in the middle of the road! hehe... but still, GREAATTTTT JOB!
hmmm... guess i gota go sleep now. its 1235am already! haha... will be back soon with pixes of abee's bani cake and of her too! hahaa...

and then, my lil noti niece is coming back tomolo to celebrate her 1st birthday on the 23 march. hehe… and I shall have some pix posted up after that! haha… can't wait for her to be back! yay!

anyway, got an sms today from a uni fren informing us all that she’s happily married on 13 March 2007. (congratulations!) haha… and stating that she’s sorry for not inviting us all cos she knew that we would all find very good reasons for being unable to attend her wedding, so to in order to “save” us from searching for the good reasons, and to prevent her from waiting for all of us to be present, she only informed us today! hahaha… I was laughing when I got her msg! such cunning girl! coming up with such an “excuse” for not telling us earlier! but then, I guess, somehow her words are very true as well, don’t u think so? haha…

soya

ONE WOMAN'S STORY ON SOYA...
This is my true story, nothing altered. These are facts, as they relate to my experience, my opinions based on what I have read and felt. I am relating them to warn other young health-conscious women who are unwittingly harming themselves. In 1989, I graduated from high school in Texas and couldn't wait to hit the big college city. One of the changes I wanted to make was to eat healthier. Once I moved to health-conscious Austin, Texas, I began to fortify my body with the best and healthiest foods I could find. Tofu was the main ingredient in every healthy dish and I bought soya milk lmost every day used it for everything from cereal to smoothies or just to drink for a quick snack. I bought soya muffins, miso soup with tofu, soybeans, soybean, sprouts, etc.
All the literature in all the health and fitness magazines said that soya protected you against everything from heart disease to breast cancer. It was the magical isoflavones, the estrogen-like hormones that all worked to help you stay young and healthy. I looked great, I was working out allthe time, but my menstrual cycle was off. At 20, I started taking birth control pills to regulate my menstrual cycle. In addition to this I began to suffer from painful periods. I began to get puffy, it was as though I was losing my muscle tone. I began to suffer from depression and getting hot flashes. I mistook all this for PMS since my periods were irregular.
By the time I was 25, my periods were so bad, I couldn't walk. The birth control pills never made them regular or less painful so I decided to stop taking them. I went on like this for another two years until I realized my pain wasn't normal. At 27, my gynecologist found two cysts in my uterus. Both were the size of tennis balls. I went through surgery to have them removed and thank God they were benign. The gynecologist told me to go back on birth control pills. I didn't. In 1998, he discovered a lump in my breast.
Again, I went through surgery and again it was benign. In November 2000my glands swelled up and my gums became inflamed. Thinking I had a tooth infection went to the dentist who told me that teeth were not the problem. After a dose of antibiotics the swelling still did not go down. At this point I could feel a tiny nodule on the right side of my neck. I told my mother I had thyroid trouble. She thought I was being silly. No one in the family suffered from thyroid trouble.
Going on a hunch I saw a specialist who diagnosed me with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma. After a series of tests he told me it was cancer. My fiance and I sat stunned. We were not prepared and I was so scared. We scheduled surgery right away. The specialist told us that it would only be after the operation that a pathologist would be able to tell us for sure if it was cancer. They found a tumor at my right lobe composed of irregular cells and another smaller tumor growing on the left, so the entire thyroid was removed. They told me that after undergoing radioactive iodine I would be safe and assured me that I could live a long life.
After treatment I began to search for the cause of all these problems. I never once thought it could be all the soya I had consumed for nearly ten years. After all, soya is healthy. I came upon a web page that linked thyroid problems to soya intake and the conspiracy of soya marketed as a by-product of the vegetable oil industry. This was insane, after all, the health and fitness magazines had said nothing about soya being harmful. I visited a herbalist who was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 1985. Sheinformed me that soya was the culprit. She had a hysterectomy due to cysts and other uterine problems. A few months later another acquaintance who had consumed soya came down with thyroid cancer.A girl in England I met through the Internet in a thyroid cancer forum had just undergone surgery and she was only 19. What was going on?
Breast cancer is linked to estrogen. What mimics estrogen in the female body,SOYA!But I never suspected soya because until now I never once found a single article that stated soya could be dangerous. Women who took soya priorto thyroid problems will continue to take it after if they are not aware ofwhat soya actually does, what it contains and how it reacts in the female body. I think this is the reason that women with thyroid cancer often develop breast cancer later. My co-worker is big into soya and I see her losing hair and gaining weight despite a walking workout during her break and after work, and apples and oranges for lunch. She just had cysts removed from her uterus too. I warned her to stay off soya. I referred her to websites but until it is on the evening news on all four networks, women will suffer.
Since the thyroidectomy, I do not touch soya, haven't for two years.
Dear readers,Please use my story in any way you can. There are so many young girls who are consuming soya because they think they are taking care of themselves, and women taking soya because they want to be healthy. It is so unfair that the information about the dangers of soya isn't more widely circulated. It is sad. There are many out there who feel this way and it is a terrible blow when you realize you are not as healthy as you thought and that the information that you depended on was wrong.
